High-ET dijet photoproduction at HERA

چکیده
The cross section for high-ET dijet production in photoproduction has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 81.8 pb. The events were required to have a virtuality of the incoming photon, Q, of less than 1GeV and a photon-proton centre-of-mass energy in the range 142 < Wγp < 293GeV. Events were selected if at least two jets satisfied the transverse-energy requirements of E T > 20GeV and E jet2 T > 15GeV and pseudorapidity requirements of −1 < η < 3, with at least one of the jets satisfying −1 < η < 2.5. The measurements show sensitivity to the parton distributions in the photon and proton and effects beyond next-to-leading order in QCD. Hence these data can be used to constrain further the parton densities in the proton and photon. The ZEUS Collaboration S. Chekanov, M. Derrick, S. Magill, B. Musgrave, D. Nicholass, J. Repond, R. Diffractive Dijet Production at HERA
We present recent experimental data from the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations at HERA for diffractive dijet production in deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) and photoproduction and compare them with next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD predictions using diffractive parton densities. While good agreement is found for DIS, the dijet photoproduction data are overestimated by the NLO theory, showing that factori...
متن کاملHard Photoproduction at HERA
In view of possible photoproduction studies in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions at the LHC, we briefly review the present theoretical understanding of photons and hard photoproduction processes at HERA, discussing the production of jets, light and heavy hadrons, quarkonia, and prompt photons. We address in particular the extraction of the strong coupling constant from photon structure funct...
متن کاملHeavy Flavor in Photoproduction at HERA
Recent results on charm and beauty photoproduction at HERA are discussed. The perturbative QCD calculations are generally smaller than the measured cross sections, particularly in the forward (proton) direction. The study of charm dijet photoproduction is consistent with a significant contribution of charm excitation processes.
متن کاملMeasurement of beauty photoproduction using decays into muons in dijet events at HERA
Beauty photoproduction in dijet events has been measured at HERA with the ZEUS detector using an integrated luminosity of 126 pb −1. Beauty was identified in events with a muon in the final state by using the transverse momentum of the muon relative to the closest jet. Lifetime information from the silicon vertex detector was also used; the impact parameter of the muon with respect to the prima...
متن کاملTowards Mapping the Proton unintegrated Gluon Distribution in Dijets Correlations in Real and Virtual Photoproduction at HERA
It is discussed how the dijet azimuthal correlations in DIS and real photoproduction at HERA probe the unintegrated gluon distribution in the proton. The correlation function shows a strong dependence on kinematical variables. We discuss a possible interplay of perturbative and nonperturbative effects.
